Students of the Master's Degree in Strategic Design of Products and Services (MUDE) from Mondragon Unibertsitatea have won the 1st edition of the "Gure Begirada" competition. The competition is organised by ONCE in collaboration with Mondragon Team Academy, the entrepreneurship unit of the Business School of Mondragon Unibertsitatea, and with the support of the Basque Government Department of Social Policies.

Over the course of 2 days, students from different universities worked on and developed solutions to various challenges: how to improve the accessibility of public transport; how to improve the accessibility of visual information screens that display turns; and how to create a fully accessible mobile video game. All of them focused on people who are blind or have impaired vision, and inclusive for all people.

The final event took place on 16 November, in telematic format, where the six finalist projects were presented, two of them made up of students from Mondragon Unibertsitatea's master's degree in Strategic Design. After the presentations of all the proposals, the first prize was awarded to the team comprising Sergio Suances, Laura Telleria and Ana Urquidi with their proposal to improve the accessibility of public transport, "Paloma". It features an intelligent device that uses the latest advances in object recognition to transmit in real time the situations that occur daily at bus stops to people with reduced visibility in order to make public transport more accessible for everyone.

The second finalist team was formed by Nerea Galarza, Juan Lopez, Iker Marin and Cristina de la Maza, who presented the solution "This is not a guide", also focused on improving the accessibility of public transport. This proposal is based on a product-service system that allows people with reduced visibility to find their way around metro stations and lines in a completely independent way. It is a system that adapts to any environment, creating routes and guiding the user via Bluetooth and NFC technologies.

We would like to take this opportunity to congratulate both the winning team and the runner-up for the final result. Congratulations also to the other participants of the Strategic Design of Products and Services Master's Degree for their great work. Zorionak danoi!
