The research staff of the Higher Polytechnic School were the protagonists of the conference “How to create a business model based on the circular economy”, held on 11 December at the Europa Palace in Vitoria-Gasteiz. The conference was aimed at companies and entrepreneurs, with the main objective of showing the advantages of basing the value proposition of one’s company on the circular economy. To do this, the programme featured the following presentations offered by members of the Higher Polytechnic School: Introduction to the Circular Economy: concepts and principles (Joan Manuel Fernández), Products based on the Circular Economy (Joan Manuel Fernández), Business Models for the Circular Economy (Joan Manuel Fernández and Ander Elizburu), Service Design (Daniel Justel), and Support Tools (Daniel Justel).

A conference marked by the current era

The circular economy is an economic concept that interrelates with environmental sustainability and whose objective is to ensure that the value of products, materials and resources (water, energy, etc.) is kept in the economy for as long as possible, as well as minimising waste generation.

In addition, within the framework of the COP25, being concomitantly in Madrid, it should be mentioned that the circular economy is a key tool in climate action; and that climate change is due, at up to 45%, to reasons related to the consumption of materials.
