Mondragon Unibertsitatea's Data Science Experts course has successfully completed its second edition, rising as a catalyst of competencies for professionals from various industries. Over the course of six months, leaders from companies such as Osakidetza, Tecnalia, Ideko, Stirling Center, Bcomedigital, Somabe and Digital On Mills, among others, have evolved their skills to become experts in the management of Artificial Intelligence.

This intensive 400-hour course has provided in-depth training covering everything from data preparation and pre-processing to mastering advanced machine learning and deep learning techniques, culminating in advanced data visualization. As a result, participating professionals are now equipped to lead highly complex data analytics projects.

The course has benefited greatly from the contribution of experts from various companies and entities, who through their interventions, have provided a practical understanding of the application of Artificial Intelligence in various sectors.

  1. Iñaki Suarez, from BAIC Basque Artificial Intelligence Center: Iñaki gave us an updated view of how Artificial Intelligence is implemented in companies in the Basque Country. He also gave us an overview of the challenges that this technology poses for society and the business world.
  2. Dr. Miguel Angel Veganzones, from Lookiero: Miguel allowed us to explore how these techniques are applied in the fashion industry, showing the models used by Lookiero to maintain its leadership position in the sector.
  3. Dr. Jon Barrueco, of Somorrostro Training Center: Dr. Barrueco took us by the hand through the BucovIA (VisIA) project, showing how Artificial Intelligence can be applied to bullying prevention.
  4. Dr. Oscar Serradilla, from Laboral Kutxa: Dr. Serradilla presented the results of the AI projects they have developed to predict financial macro-indicators, giving students a perspective on the applications of AI in the financial field.
  5. Dr. Darya Chyzhyk, of Naru Intelligence: Darya showed how these techniques are helping to improve the lives of oncology patients, demonstrating the impact of AI in modern medicine.
  6. Dr Aitor Duo, from Mondragon Unibertsitatea: Dr. Duo immersed us in the application of machine learning for predictive maintenance in the industrial sector, showing the importance of these techniques in the efficiency of industrial processes.
  7. Ander Iñarrairaegui, of Etortech Strategy Consultants: Ander gave an inspiring session on the opportunities that data science and artificial intelligence training opens up in different sectors, motivating students to explore new possibilities in their careers.

Each of these speakers brought a unique and valuable perspective to the course, enriching the learning experience and giving students a broader view of how data science is applied in various fields.

As a culmination of the training, the students of the course applied their newly acquired knowledge in personal projects to solve real challenges in their companies, with the guidance of our university experts. These are some of the projects developed by the students of the second edition of the Data Science Experts course:

Learning from users' information sources

Early detection of part breakage in manufacturing processes

Prediction of hospital emergency department admissions.

Sales planning and predictive trading

Development of a predictive model for the energy performance of buildings.

Target distance estimation for autonomous vehicles.

Development of a tool for the analysis of façade elements for architectural disclosure of the built heritage

Sorting of parts during the manufacturing process

Validation of clinical prediction for diagnosing heart disease

Analysis of performance in relation to the economic cycle

These projects highlight the diversity and applicability of the skills acquired during the course, allowing participants to tackle real challenges in their respective industries and demonstrate the potential of data science to solve high-impact problems.

Our heartfelt congratulations to all the graduates. We look forward to seeing how they use their data science skills to drive significant improvements in their respective organizations.
