About this event

The webinar “Green Manufacturing: technology, industrialization and innovation” is organized in 2 sessions of 2 hours each and the speakers will interact with the participants to make them understanding the environmental impact of machining and the strategies for remanufacturing as a circular economy approach to extend the life of products.

IMPORTANT: In the webinars a true use case will be assessed. Before the webinar, you will be requested to read the following scientific paper that will be commented and used as use case during the webinar:

Read the following scientific paper

At 09:00 AM CEST: "Environmental impact of machining processes", by Pedro-José Arrazola

The participants will be able to know the key aspects determining the environmental impact of machining

The speaker:

Dr. Pedro-José Arrazola Arriola is a Senior Lecturer of Mechanical Engineering and the Head of the Machining Laboratory at Mondragon University. He received his PhD in 2003 at Nantes University.

He has been active in metal machining during the last 2 decades, publishing 59 papers in international refereed journals and more than 100 papers in conferences. His H index is 24. He has been awarded with 2 patents and one I.P.R. His current research interests are: cutting fundamentals, machinability, process monitoring and environmental impact of machining. In recent years, he has focused his research on the machining of aeronautical applications, where analysis of surface integrity condition key aspect. He is secretary of the STC Cutting at CIRP Organization.

At 13:00 CEST: "Circular Economy strategies for green manufacturing: Trends and challenges of remanufacturing", by José Alberto Eguren and Leire Gorroño.

The participants will be able to learn about the remanufacturing process as a circular economy strategy to extend the life of products. Emphasizing the identification of the characteristics of the products to be remanufactured and the organizational aspects to be taken into account to start up a remanufacturing process.

The speaker:

José Alberto Eguren holds a PhD in Industrial Engineering from Mondragón Goi Eskola Politeknikoa (MGEP). He also has a Black Belt degree from the UPC and a Masters Degree in Environmental Management from the UPV-EHU. He is specialized in industrial process design and life cycle analysis in industrial products

Leire Gorroño is a researcher and lecturer at the Faculty of Engineering at Mondragon Unibertsitatea. She holds a PhD. in sustainable energy planning from Aalborg University. In her later research, she engaged in industry decarbonisation strategies with a circular economy approach.
