BACHELOR’S DEGREE IN INDUSTRIAL DESIGN
AND PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT ENGINEERING
Become a professional capable of designing innovative products and services that generate value for companies, society, and the planet. As an Industrial Designer, you will work in multidisciplinary teams where creativity, technical skills, and innovation play a key role.
The work of the Industrial Designer consists of giving form to the everyday products we use (mobile phones, packaging, consumer products etc.) in a creative, innovative and environmentally-friendly way.
Industrial design is an activity closely linked to business innovation, with industrial design engineers responsible for generating new proposals to be implemented by industry.
The industrial design professional has to master design as much as the manufacture and development of products, starting off with the needs of consumers and users to end up with a commercial product. The multidisciplinary nature of engineering allows industrial design professionals to work in various different company departments.
Human-centred design
At Mondragon Unibertsitatea, we believe that design must respond to the real needs of people. We focus on human-centred design to address social challenges, solve everyday problems, and improve quality of life. You will learn and apply our own design methodology, developing the ability to lead and implement innovation projects with a user-centred approach. You will also acquire technical skills such as 3D CAD modelling, prototyping, and visual communication through graphic design, essential tools for product development and for effectively communicating your ideas.
Practical and Collaborative Learning
We believe that the best way to learn is by doing, and doing it together. That is why our approach combines hands-on individual work with collaborative team-based projects. During the last month of the semester, regular lectures and assignments pause, and you will engage in a Problem-Oriented Project-Based Learning (POPBL) experience. In this real-world simulation, teams identify a design opportunity and develop a complete product solution, just as in a professional design studio.
Courses for exchange students
We suggest a package of 30 ECTS in English-taught courses for incoming students, designed to ensure schedule compatibility: Design Methodology II, Computer-Aided Design I, Artistic Expression II, Usability, Project Management II, and Technology Policy and Innovation Management. Most of these courses include practical components and project-based learning. In addition, you will have access to a selection of language and elective courses if you wish to personalise your academic experience.
