The competition of advertisements in Basque, Euspot, was created in 2012 through the collaboration of three organizations: the City Council of Aretxabaleta, the communications agency Arteman Komunikazioa, and the Faculty of Humanities and Education of Mondragon University. Since 2015, the Provincial Council of Gipuzkoa and the Arizmendi Basque School have also joined in the organization of the competition.
The purpose of this competition is to promote the use of the Basque language in advertising and, more specifically, in the audiovisual sector.
Works created not only by students of Mondragon University but also by participants outside the university may be submitted to the competition.
