Within the framework of the collaboration conferences organised by the Debagoiena Mancommunity aimed at SMEs, the Higher Polytechnic School of Mondragon (MGEP) has sought to demonstrate its willingness to collaborate in small innovation projects that represent a competitive improvement for the small and medium-sized companies in the environment. These innovation projects with SMEs are part of the TKgune programme promoted by the Centre for Applied Research of FP of the Basque Government.

The professors and researchers in the robotics and automation area at MGEP have shown their modern technological facilities to the representatives of the companies and presented several examples of projects that they are currently developing. These projects cover topics such as artificial vision for the quality inspection of parts and the automation and monitoring of the process for control and optimisation. One of the examples of collaboration presented was the one developed with Mondragon Assembly, with the goal of integrating artificial vision and optimise the correct robotic positioning of the cells that are added to photovoltaic panels, followed by a quality inspection of both the cells and panels.

The Mondragon Goi Eskola Politeknikoa staff have shown interest in knowing the needs of small and medium-sized companies and are willing to identify areas of collaboration. These company-centre tandems allow access to more technological resources and have more multidisciplinary teams of professionals, essential components to promote innovation in small and medium-sized companies.
