We already have the winning photograph of this edition of the contest

Last week espired the deadline to present the works of this 24th edition of the photography contest organized by the Sports Service. In total, 62 photographs have been submitted, with 24 people participating in the contest whose theme is "Physical activity and passion" Here you have the album with all the works presented.
Our colleagues from the Aretxabaleta campus have helped us in the resolution of the contest and the winner was the photo "Zergatik ez?" (Why not?) by Beñat Auzmendi Jauregi, in which appears a skater on the way to the next attempt.
Here you have the technical justification of the jury:
The jury decided that the image submitted by the winner is very expressive in its simplicity. It shows a woman with her back turned, holding a skateboard and with stains on her clothes, signs of having fallen several times. Despite its simplicity, the image expresses a lot:
- The connection between the text and the image. The relationship between the image and the text is excellent and complete. The description perfectly rounds off what we are seeing, adding multiple meanings to the photo.
- The reality of minority sports. We have valued and appreciated the ability to make visible the daily difficulties of a minority sport; and, beyond the images of the most popular sports, to show this reality.
- The message of resilience. It reflects the effortthat it takes to get up again and again. This passion expressed in the text is not just something that belongs to sports; it is a value that can be transferred to any area of life.
In short, the work provides a comprehensive answer to the topic, showing us that passion is not just about winning, but also about getting up and moving forward after falling.
Thanks to all the participants and congratulations to Beñat for his photo "Zergatik ez?"!
