The Huhezinema Basque Short Film Festival is accepting submissions of short films from now until February 16, 2021. This year, the short film festival organized by Audiovisual Communication students at Mondragon University will be held on March 16, 17 and 18. It will be announced at a later date whether this year’s festival will be held in person or whether, due to Covid, it will be online as it was last year.

Short films of any genre or theme may be submitted to the festival. This year, the organizers have also created a new section: the Comedy Award. The festival awards many prizes in its four sections: the Official Selection, the MU Student Section, the Mundukide Award and the new section this year, the Comedy Award. View the rules hereThe deadline to participate in the 14th annual poster contest is February 1.

In addition to the screenings, the students organize different events throughout the festival such as talks, round tables, master classes and the awards ceremony.

Annually since 2008, a group of Audiovisual Communication students at Mondragon University have organized the Huhezinema Basque Short Film Festival in collaboration with a teacher, as part of their 4th-year course content. Over the years, Huhezinema has become a notable contest both inside and outside the Basque Country in the field of short films and documentary.
