As every year, the Arkupe Culture Center in Aretxabaleta will host the Huhezinema Basque Short Film Festival. The 17th annual festival will be held this year on January 24, 25 and 26. From the opening ceremony to the awards ceremony, the festival will offer an enriching experience for the public, and for three days, in addition to showing short films that excite, inspire and entertain the audience, there will be many other initiatives organized by the 4th-year students in Audiovisual Communication.

This year, the festival will show 21 short films and 10 video clips. In addition, performances, masterclasses and awards ceremonies have been organized for the three days. Ogeita4 representative Mattin Aierbe will give a talk on the set of the Aretxabaleta campus. Additionally, there will be a bar crawl, a concert by Jasan, a reception, and performances by DJ Rosama in the Herriko Square in Aretxabaleta.

All of the organized events will be free and open to the public. This year’s festival will feature the collaboration of Albina Stardust, Kepa Errasti, Ane Urresti and Iker Mateo.

Wednesday, January 24

4:00 p.m. - Screening of the Student Department I.

6:00 p.m. - Screening of the Student Department II.

8:00 p.m. - Bar crawl.

Thursday, January 25

4:30 p.m. - Premiere of the music video “Bihotza negar.”

5:00 p.m. - Masterclass: Asier Renteria.

6:30 p.m. - Screening of the Music Video Section.

7:30 p.m. - Performance: Albina Stardust.

8:00 p.m. - Concert: Jasan.

Friday, January 26.

3:00 p.m. - Screening of the Official Section I.

4:30 p.m. - Screening of the Official Section II.

7:30 p.m. - Awards ceremony.

8:30 p.m. - Reception.

9:00 p.m. - DJ Rosamari.

The festival is organized by 4th-year students in the Bachelor’s degree program in Audiovisual Communication at Mondragon University. The festival is organized as part of the Organization and Production of Cultural Events module. This year’s organizing team consists of 20 students coordinated by Audiovisual Communication professors Iban del Campo and Idoia Astigarraga.
