INTOOL; Herramientas de corte inteligentes sensorizadas mediante recubrimientos funcionales has been funded by the Economic Develpoment and Infrastructures Department of the Basque Goverment, within the financial aid call ELKARTEK (2019).

Description

The INTOOL II project is aimed at developing a sensor with functional coatings, which will provide more precise and reliable information on the real situation of the machining process: stresses, temperatures, degree of wear of the tool, etc. The information from this sensor, combined with that from any others available, and duly processed, will make it possible to develop models of the machining process using Machine Learning techniques. Such models will help to work in zero defect environments, where the uncertainty in the results of component machining will be continuously reduced as component production advances.

The aim is to develop a concept test or prototype sensor tool holder capable of collecting the signals generated by functional coatings (pressures, forces, temperatures....), which, duly treated and combined with other signals from other external or internal sensors of the machine tool, will allow a more explicit and reliable knowledge of the process situation to be gleaned. This information will allow the operator to define strategies or, in a more automatic way, the actions to be taken when observing the values and trends of certain variables.
