The talent of the Faculty of Business Studies at Mondragon Unibertsitatea once again shines on the national stage. A team of five students from the Degree in Business Administration and Management (myGADE) at the Irun campus has qualified for the grand final of the 2025-2026 bugaMAP Inter-University Championship.

After overcoming a highly competitive qualifying phase held between October and December 2025, the team composed of Iraia Urrutia, Libe Millet, Daniel Tamés, Araitz Barrena and Elene Ruiz de Eguino has secured a place among the four best teams in Spain.

The challenge: Managing an insurance company in real time

bugaMAP (MAPFRE business game) is a business strategy simulator that requires students to make critical decisions to improve the performance of an insurance company. During the qualifying phase, students managed Non-Life insurance products, but in the Madrid grand final the challenge increases: they will face the bugaMAP VIDA simulation.

To reach this stage, the Mondragon Unibertsitatea representatives had to:

  • Analyse complex economic variables within the insurance market.
  • Reach strategic decisions under pressure to maximise their company’s share value.
  • Compete against teams from universities listed by the Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities.

Rewards for talent and strategy

The final will take place at the headquarters of Fundación MAPFRE in Madrid. In addition to academic recognition and an official diploma, the winning team will receive:

A commemorative award for the university.

€300 Amazon gift cards for each of the five team members and their faculty advisor.

From the Faculty of Business Studies, we wish to highlight the effort of this group, which exemplifies Mondragon Unibertsitatea’s educational model based on the practical application of knowledge and cooperative teamwork.

Best of luck in Madrid, team!
