On Tuesday, November 20, a seminar entitled Responsible media and critical citizens. Effectiveness and approval of accounting will take place at the Faculty of Humanities and Education Sciences on the Aretxabaleta campus.

The seminar is based on the Accountability and Journalistic Cultures in Spain R&D&I research project, and researchers from seven different universities (including MU) will participate. The primary aims of the project are to identify the different journalistic cultures that exist in the different territories of Spain, and to examine what accounting tool is used in each of those communities.

The seminar will begin at 9:00. There will be three 20-minute talks in the first hour: first, MU professors and researchers Eneko Bidegain and Aitor Zuberogoitia will explain the accounting situation in the Basque Country; next, Pompeu Fabra University researcher Xavier Ramon will examine the opinions of Basque Autonomous Community experts, journalists and citizens on the topic; and finally, Ramon will present a measuring instrument for members of this project to use in the future. This instrument measures the transparency of the media, self-regulation, and tools devoted to citizen participation. The
