Junction, the largest tech hackathon in Europe, comes to Malaga on October 20, 21 and 22 by the hand of the LEINN Degree (Entrepreneurial Leadership and Innovation) of Mondragon Unibertsitatea and TeamLabs. The members of the winning team will get the ticket for Junction 2023, the worldwide edition of this hackathon, which will take place in Helsinki on November 10, 11 and 12 and will have more than 20,000 euros in prizes.

The Malaga edition of the largest tech hackathon in Europe, which will involve a hundred people and will take place in the Technology Park of Andalusia (PTA), will begin at 17:00 pm on Friday 20 and end at 14:00 on Sunday 22.

Participants in this hackathon will have to create innovative solutions to real challenges posed by tech companies. The sponsors of Junction Malaga are Oracle, Qua Consultores and Rocketlink; and has the collaboration of 42 Malaga Telefonica Foundation, TeamLabs, Impact Hub, Coca-Cola, Examfy, Medac and University of Malaga-LINK by UMA.

The event was coordinated by five young people from the first generation of the LEINN Degree in Malaga: José Rojas, Iván Marmolejo, Santiago Castellanos, Pablo Oliver and German Zamora.

With only 8 years of existence, Junction has managed to create a community of more than 20,000 technological profiles distributed around the world, and has enabled the celebration of more than 100 events and the creation of more than 2,500 projects. Junction Malaga will be the first experience of the largest hackathon in Europe in Spain and two more editions are confirmed on Spanish soil in 2024, which will be in Malaga and Madrid.

The LEINN Degree in Malaga

The arrival of Mondragon Unibertsitatea and TeamLabs to Malaga was framed within the collaboration protocol signed with the City Council of Malaga two years ago, through Promalaga, to promote the city as an urban ecosystem of innovation and entrepreneurship reference at international level; as well as to boost employment generation hand in hand with the creation of new innovative business initiatives.

In September 2022, the first course of the LEINN Degree (Entrepreneurial Leadership and Innovation) began in Malaga and, in parallel, different activities were launched with which Mondragon Unibertsitatea and TeamLabs have managed to impact more than 3,100 young people from Malaga.

Mondragon Unibertsitatea is a benchmark in the area of entrepreneurship. One of its hallmarks in entrepreneurial education is the Official Degree in Entrepreneurial Leadership and Innovation (LEINN). Students must create a real company as a team from the first day, combining it with trips to different countries. With a 97% employability rate, it trains young people to acquire a learning mentality that prepares them to face uncertainty successfully, naturally and without fear.
