More than 35 social organisations and businesses with purpose came together on the afternoon of the 15th December for the second Topaketa Alianzas (alliances meeting), organised by Bolunta and Mondragon Team Academy in the Bilbao Berrikuntza Faktoria (Bilbao Innovation Factory). The objective was clear, meet others and collaborate within the setting of the SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals). This first meeting will be followed-up in February in the BBK Kuna

The activities were divided in three parts: inspiration, dialogue and connection. For the first part, the inspiration session had two different spaces: to open the meeting Paloma Orte de la Peña inspired the participants by recommending creating circular collaborations where the relationships are win-win based. “The SDGs are the best plan for the present and the future” and “the SDGs make us push ourselves further” are a couple of the phrases that the expert left us to remind us that the SDGs already have a history of six years.

These circular collaborations are what precisely were the protagonists in the second part of the inspiration session. With great moderation from Miren Lauzirika from Art for Life! and Emakumeekin; Uluwatu, Adesio and Gaude took to the stage to share their experiences and left one conclusion clear: “Collaboration is always possible. You just have to look for the best formula for it”. Afterwards, Emaktiva (EDE Fundazioa) and Argia Fundazioa spoke and their headline was similar: the objective of the search is a common space for social organisations and businesses; they have a lot to share between them.

The second part of the event was centered around a dialogue where the participants were initially divided into five groups with two group changes in order to maximise the interaction. This dialogue was centered around questions such as: What elements are necessary for a successful collaboration between organisations, businesses, public sector, etc? or Where are there opportunities of collaboration between organisations and empresas? There were various conclusions, of which two are highlighted: The importance of meeting one another and getting to know one another as the need to collaborate can arise at any moment. And secondly, that in a collaboration the purpose, the impact and the commitments, must be made clear, taking diversity into account.

Finally, although during the dialogue rounds the first collaborations started being forged, the last activity of networking gave space to speak about alliances and to exchange opinions, experiences and contacts. Each person had three puzzle pieces, containing their details, that they had to exchange for those of other participants. This exchange was the first step in beginning the collaborations, this meeting was just the beginning. In February there will be another session to meet and value the collaborations that have emerged. This time the session will be in the BBK Kuna.
