Last Friday, October 30, saw the opening of the 13th year of the Specialist Course in Cooperative Development. This year 14 representatives from 10 different cooperatives will participate in the course, which will be held on the Eskoriatza campus.

This year the course is organized in two parts. In the first part, which runs until May 14, participants will work on the theoretical-practical contents of cooperativism. In the second part, participants will put their new knowledge into practice to carry out real projects.

The course this year includes representatives from the following cooperatives: Ausolan, RPK, Fagor Ederlan, Lagun Aro Services, Eika, Ulma Packaging, Copreci, F.E. Tafalla, Ulma CyE and Fagor Industrial.

The course has four specific objectives:

  • To provide the participants with a solid foundation of theoretical-practical knowledge so that they may understand and analyze the cooperative situation.
  • To provide the knowledge and tools to develop the cooperative socio-business project.
  • To create a space in which to share practices and promote reflection among the participants from the various cooperatives.
  • To create a practical end of course project that focuses on strengthening the cooperative socio-business project.

From its very first year, the Specialist Course in Cooperative Development has been very well received by cooperatives. To date, more than 270 representatives from 40 different cooperatives have participated in the course.

The organizers would like nothing better than to offer this training course in person, as it has been taught in previous years, recognizing the importance of in-person participation, however if the Covid-19 situation worsens, the course will continue online.

This course is offered as an initiative of the LANKI Institute for Cooperative Studies of the Faculty of Humanities and Education Sciences of Mondragon University.
