Three researchers from the Faculty of Humanities and Education Sciences publish a book on reflective teacher training
Professors and researchers Karmele Perez, Agurtzane Azpeitia and Arantza Ozaeta have compiled their 15 years of training experience in their book “Irakaslearen prestakuntza gogoetatsua hezkuntza berritzeko giltza” (“Reflective Teacher Training as a Key to Educational Innovation”).
Karmele Perez, Agurtzane Azpeitia and Arantza Ozaeta, professors in the Faculty of Humanities and Education Sciences of Mondragon University and Miker Group researchers, have presented their book Irakaslearen prestakuntza gogoetatsua hezkuntza berritzeko giltza (Reflective Teacher Training as a Key to Educational Innovation). At the event held on November 24 on the Eskoriatza campus, the authors summarized the contents of the book and the reasons that led them to write it.
The researchers believe that educational innovation demands a transformation of teaching practices and believe that the key to this is to promote reflective training among education professionals. To help with this, their book compiles different keys and resources for teachers to use as tools with which to work in a reflective way.
To reflect on the training of the reflective teacher, the authors focus particularly on language teaching. Thus, when it comes to influencing the development of linguistic competence, these Mondragon researchers highlight three keys: addressing the treatment of languages in an integrated way, working on the language and curricular content in an comprehensive way, and promoting didactic interaction in the classroom in a established and systematic way.
