Students from the Master's Program in Industrial Engineering visited the FAGOR ARRASATE factory expansion project, accompanied by the company KREAN
This activity, related to several subjects being studied in the Master's program, was very well received by the students

The students from the Master's degree in Industrial Engineering visited the construction site being built by the engineering and architecture firm KREAN. The cooperative is in charge of the expansion project at the Fagor Arrasate factory.
The students from the Arrasate and Galarreta campuses visited the new facilities being built by Fagor Arrasate in the San Andrés neighborhood of Arrasate. The new building will have an area of 6,000 m2 and will be connected to the existing pavilion. The new facility will house the new machining unit, which will include a large-structure machining unit capable of machining pieces weighing up to 200 tons.
Through the explanations given during the visit, the students were able to see how the content of the subjects they study in the master's program is put into practice.
- Project design and its adaptation to urban planning regulations.
- Design and calculation of the different elements of the building (foundations, footings, piles, cranes, enclosures, installations, etc.).
- How the construction process is carried out and its management.
Reorganization of the production flow
Fagor Arrasate is conducting an in-depth analysis of the reorganization of its production flows, and the Line Back methodology will be applied in this new facility. Therefore, we took advantage of the visit to allow the students to tour the warehouse and learn how the processes and flows are organized. This visit was especially significant due to its direct relevance to the Transportation course. In fact, it allowed the students to see how warehouse material flows are managed, route optimization, selection of transport methods, etc.
Internship Opportunities
Students in the Master's in Engineering program often complete internships or their Final Master's Projects at both KREAN and Fagor Arrasate. Therefore, the visit was very beneficial and allowed students to gain an understanding of the types of projects they can participate in through Mondragon Unibertsitatea's partner companies.
Many thanks to Iratxe, Mikel, and Aitor from KREAN for your explanations. Also, thank you to Aitor Sanzberro from Fagor Arrasate for opening the warehouse doors. We learned a great deal!
Master's in Industrial Engineering
This master's program offers advanced and specialized training in the field of industrial technology and is taught on two campuses: Arrasate and Galarreta. Mondragon Unibertsitatea has strong ties to industry, so all students complete internships and their Master's thesis projects in companies (part-time in the first year with a grant of €794.00/month and full-time in the second year with a grant of €1,174/month). Upon completion of the Master's program, graduates have a 100% employability rate.
