The Mondragon University campus welcomed a group of students and faculty from the European University of Madrid (UEM). This visit stemmed from a Learning Journey experience that students from the Master's Degree in Biomedical Technologies from Mondragon University took to Madrid, where they had the opportunity to meet leading companies and organizations in the healthcare sector.

During one of these stops, they visited the UEM and participated in a challenge with their biotechnology students. The reward? A visit to Guipúzcoa to learn about Mondragon University... and the time has finally come to enjoy it!

For several weeks, the Mondragon University biomedical teaching team has been involved in preparing a comprehensive and engaging program for students and faculty in Madrid:

  • In the research area, they explained their ongoing projects in the fields of tissue engineering and imaging classification of neurodegenerative diseases.
  • In the laboratory, demonstrations were conducted with chips created for the study of microfluidics.
  • They visited Otalora to learn about MONDRAGON's cooperative experience firsthand.
  • Students from the Mondragon University Master's in Biomedical Technologies presented the projects they have worked on during the course:
    • A sensor-enhanced glove for sign language interpretation.
    • A personalized rehabilitation system.
    • A bioreactor for cardiomyocyte transport.
    • The design and characterization of scaffolds for bone regeneration.
    • A circulatory system test bench.

Both students and faculty have highly valued this experience. This exchange, which began in October with a visit to the UEM and has now concluded with Mondragon, has been enriching for everyone. The connection between the two universities has demonstrated great potential, and we look forward to continued collaboration in the future.

See you next time!

Master's Degree in Biomedical Technologies

The Master's Degree in Biomedical Technologies is taught on the Arrasate campus (90 ECTS; 1.5 years) and offers students the opportunity to combine their studies with dual training (paid internships in companies). The growth of the biomedical industry in the Basque Country is increasing the demand for this profile, which projects a promising career path.
