Ikerbasque Prof. Valentina Shevtsova together with Prof. M. Mounir Bou-Ali from the Fluid Mechanics Group of Mondragon Unibertsitatea have visited the Microgravity Key Laboratory of the Institute of Mechanics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), invited by its director Prof. Qiu Sheng LIU.

The purpose of the visit was to learn first-hand about the project to be carried out at OIM/CAS, a project presented by the Chinese team that revolves around the space experiments on phase change of droplet evaporation and heat transfer at the Chinese Space Station (CSS). Prof. V. Shevtsova presented the paper entitled Scientific outcome from microgravity experiments on thermodiffusion and Prof. M. Bou-Ali presented the results of the paper Enhancing Heat Transfer in PCM Devices: Marangoni Convection and Other Strategies.

During the meetings held, the high level of common scientific interest between both teams was evident, materializing in a letter of intent that includes different lines of research of shared interest. Likewise, the research team of the Microgravity Laboratory (CAS) has expressed its interest in collaboration, offering the possibility of using the Chinese Space Station and participating in joint development initiatives. In fact, Prof. Valentina Shevtsova and Prof. M. Mounir Bou-Ali visited the facilities of the CSU (Technology and Engineering Center for Space Utilization) where a meeting was held with the staff of the International Cooperation office ratifying again their offer to develop bilateral collaboration projects between the Fluid Mechanics group of Mondragon Unibertsitatea and the Key Laboratory of Microgravity of the Institute of Mechanics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences.
