Recently, third-year students of the Bachelor's Degree in Applied Industrial Physics Engineering welcomed Joseba Atucha, the head of structural analysis for seals and structures at ITP Aero, into their classrooms.

The presentation was part of the Mathematical Modeling course and provided students with an insight into the finite element calculation tools used by ITP Aero to manufacture its turbines. As Atucha explained during the session, "the aeronautical sector requires a complex and demanding design, calculation, and production chain," so experiencing firsthand the industrial application of the tools studied in the classroom was very enriching for the students.

The meeting took place at Mondragon Unibertsitatea's Bilbao AS Fabrik campus, the campus where the Bachelor's Degree in Applied Industrial Engineering has been taught since September 2022.

Collaboration between ITP Aero and the Polytechnic School of Mondragon Unibertsitatea

Both institutions have a long history of collaboration that allows for the development of research and transfer projects, as well as the delivery of lectures in classrooms and visits to production plants.

The collaboration also allows Mondragon Unibertsitatea engineering students to undertake internships, dual training, and final degree and master's projects on real-life projects proposed by ITP Aero, either at its plants or in the university's laboratories.
