On February 18, KoopFabrika has organized a conference entitled Territories and cooperatives; Catalan and Basque experiences in Arantzazu. The purpose of the conference is to learn first-hand about innovative public policies implemented in Catalonia in recent years and to reflect on the development of our own models for promoting these philosophies in the Basque Country.

In recent years, a large number of cooperatives have been created in different territories of the Basque Country, as have numerous networks and associations that group them, each according to the situation in their territory. Similar experiences are actively developing in Catalonia. In this sense, the innovative public policies launched by the Regional Government of Catalonia in 2015 in collaboration with the cooperative movement are yielding interesting results on the path toward social transformation, territorial sovereignty and a new cooperative wave.

The conference on February 18 aims to be a meeting place where participants will learn about these innovative public policies. The development of the Ateneu Cooperatius, the characterization of unique projects and the recently launched program for the promotion of urban communities. The general director of Social Economics of the Regional Government of Catalonia, Josep Vidal, will report on all of this personally at the conference. In addition, the cooperative members of three Ateneu Cooperatius who participate in the realization and execution of these public policies will participate, contributing their experience and vision.

Learn about new experiences to develop our own models
