ONCE, in collaboration with Mondragon Team Academy, the entrepreneurship unit of the Faculty of Business at Mondragon Unibertsitatea, and the support of the Department of Social Policies of the Basque Government, has convened the 1st edition of the Gure Begirada Contest, and invites participation to all students of legal age who are studying intermediate or higher degrees at universities in the Basque Autonomous Community.

This call invites the participants, students from different disciplines, to work in order to provide solutions to different challenges that people with visual disabilities have to face in their day to day.

To do this, in addition to learning to work in a team and develop skills such as the ability to innovate, their creativity or critical thinking, they will use different learning methodologies by networking.

Three challenges and three prizes

For this reason, in this first call, the contestants must consider a minimum of three challenges: how to improve the accessibility of public transport; how to improve the accessibility of the visual information screens that establish shifts; and how to create a fully accessible mobile video game.

Participants will work in multidisciplinary teams, trying to innovate in the search for projects that provide solutions. For this they will work in two phases. The first phase or "Look at the horizon" will take place on October 30 and the second or "Look with focus", on November 13 and 14.

A jury made up of representatives of the ONCE, Mondragon Team Academy, the entrepreneurship unit of the Mondragon Unibertsitatea Business School and the Basque Government will announce the list of winners, where in addition to the cash prizes, they will have an impact on the screening of the best works encouraging their development and implementation.

The Jury will issue its decision considering criteria such as the innovative nature of the project, its social and digital impact, or its technical and economic viability, among others. The awards ceremony will take place on Saturday, November 14.

Registration for the 1st Gure Begirada Contest is now open, and can be carried out on the website www.gurebegirada.es where the rules are published, as well as all the details of participation.
