The Faculty of Engineering hosted from 25 February to 8 March a fortnight event dedicated to the reflection on values and principles addressed to the students and staff of the university.
Based on a cooperative identity, Mondragon Goi Eskola Politeknikoa has the clear objective of promoting values such as commitment, involvement, solidarity, and effort, among others. For this reason, the university has organised the NiZuGu Mugituz thematic fortnight, with the aim of creating a space for reflection on principles and values aimed at the entire university community.
The dynamics of the fortnight event has been composed of different workshops and sessions aimed at the participants’ reflection. In addition, on 4 March, an exhibition was launched in the hall of building 7 of the Faculty of Engineering, where the different initiatives in which the students of the university participate were presented, reflecting the commitment they have assumed for society.
During the event, the students participated actively in the different initiatives promoted by the university, such as blood donation, voluntary associations, sports training, self-learning or self-care, among others. When observing the involvement of the students of Mondragon Unibertsitatea in social initiatives, it is noted that Arizmendiarrieta's twentieth-century thinking upon which the cooperative movement was built continues to this day.
For this reason, within the framework of NiZuGu Mugituz, different thoughts of José María Arizmendiarrieta have been exposed on the stairways of the buildings of the Faculty of Engineering, with the aim of encouraging reflection. The thoughts that we can find are the following: Socialising knowledge democratises power; Solidarity and honesty are profitable in themself; Gure indarra ez da borrokan neurtzen, kooperazioan baizik; Emakumearen posizioak neurtzen du gizarte baten garapen maila zehatza; The world has not been given to us simply to contemplate it, but to transform it; Siempre hay un paso más que dar y Arazoen identifikazioa da hauek konpontzeko lehen pausoa.
