A delegation of MONDRAGON representatives presented a report on the generation of cooperative entrepreneurship ecosystems and their social impact.
A delegation of MONDRAGON representatives, including Aitor Lizartza, Coordinator of the Mondragon Team Academy and the Entrepreneurship area in the Business School of Mondragon Unibertsitatea, visited the city of Preston (North West England) to present the final report of the consultancy work carried out by LKS NEXT on the generation of cooperative entrepreneurship ecosystems and their social impact. Preston is known in the UK for the community development strategy that the City Council has been implementing since 2012, also called Preston Model, and which has become a benchmark for other British localities.
One of the 8 lines of action of this strategy is the promotion of new cooperative enterprises to promote social justice and inclusion. This visit has allowed MONDRAGON's cooperative experience in the generation of entrepreneurship ecosystems to be brought closer and made known to the city's social and economic agents, with the aim of adapting it to their own economic and social reality.
In this sense, the examples of GAZTENPRESA and MONDRAGON TEAM ACADEMY-LEINN and their entrepreneurship network, and the participation of their representatives in this visit as well as of the Corporation itself, has been fundamental to transfer their experience and knowledge in the generation of entrepreneurship ecosystems.
This mission also made it possible to visit Rochdale Pioneers, the first cooperative created in the United Kingdom in 1844, and which in its day was a model of inspiration for the creation of MONDRAGON.
