Students of the Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Design Engineering and Product Development at Mondragon Goi Eskola Politeknikoa have been selected as finalists in the IF Design Student Awards, one of the most important international competitions aimed at students.

In this edition, the competition has had the participation of more than 7,000 projects from all over the world, of which only 300 have been chosen as finalists by an international jury. Among them are several projects linked to Mondragon Unibertsitatea, which reinforces its position in the field of design at an international level.

One of the selected projects is "Kitchi, a softer way to hold", developed by 3rd year students of the degree. It is a kitchen utensil system with interchangeable heads, designed to improve the user experience of people with arthritis or reduced mobility in their hands. Its main innovation lies in an ergonomic, soft and adaptable handle that allows a more comfortable and secure grip, making it easier to maintain a natural position of the hand. In addition, the project is committed to an inclusive approach also from an aesthetic point of view, moving away from the medical appearance and favouring its integration into the everyday environment of the kitchen. The team is made up of Aimar Arauzo, Abby Carrizales, Ainara Gonzalez, Yasir Mchichou and Yaiza Zuazo.

The project developed by Josu Deza within the framework of his Final Degree Project in collaboration with the company Bellota Tools has also been recognized. The project proposes the redesign of a saw with the aim of updating its visual identity and adapting it to the current language of the brand and the market, generating a greater impact at the point of sale through the redesign of the product and the updating of the packaging. It also incorporates functional innovations such as a ruler integrated into the blade, which allows you to measure without changing tools, and an angle gauge in the handle to draw lines at 90 and 45 degrees. Since its conception, the project has taken into account industrialization criteria, guaranteeing its viability in terms of manufacture and costs.

For her part, Lucía Brizuela, within the framework of her Master's Thesis developed at Mondragon Goi Eskola Politeknikoa, has designed a methodology for the analysis of the student experience, aimed at evaluating and improving the university experience from a comprehensive perspective. The project jointly addresses the academic, personal, social and institutional dimensions, providing a structured tool for continuous improvement in the educational field.

The winners of this edition will be announced on June 11, in Frankfurt, Germany. Meanwhile, this recognition once again places Mondragon Unibertsitatea among the leading institutions in the field of design at an international level.
