After the situation experienced during Covid 19, countries and regions around the world have to start drawing the future of the post-Covid society they want to be. In this context, Bilbao is hosting today and tomorrow the "Dialogue on the Future of Science and Innovation" in which, among other entities, Mondragon Unibertsitatea is participating.

The aim of this forum is to analyse and gather proposals on the challenges of the future.

This initiative is being held in 17 autonomous communities, and in each one different topics of interest will be addressed. The Basque Country has been specifically selected to host the dialogue on science and innovation.

As part of the programme of these dialogues, today, 18 October, Mondragon Unibertsitatea hosted in Bilbao Berrikuntza Faktoria, the innovation and entrepreneurship centre set up thanks to the collaboration between the University and Bilbao City Council, the meeting with innovators where 10 innovation projects were presented.

  1. GAMAN: Inclusive changing tables. New toilet concept designed to satisfy the needs of people with high personal hygiene support needs.
  2. GRS (Global Radio System): Radiocommunications service in a closed user group, to solve any type of need in different business models.
  3. MIDINN: Learning experiences for the well-being of the community by designing innovative solutions with technology experts and professionals in the fields of equality and sexuality.
  4. EKOMODO: Sustainable products. The only industrial company in Europe that not only recycles plastic (around 5 million bottles recycled every day), but also transforms this recycled material into its own products that are used in different sectors.
  5. CODE CONTRACT: Warranty as a Service platform able to technically and legally prove the person or entity on the other side of the screen, ensure traceability and access logs and custorise and generate digital evidence.
  6. IMPACT MAMA: To develop a business incubator for women in rural areas (Gandiol, Senegal) to help them create their own activity and become socially integrated, increasing their standard of living and that of their families.
  7. KUVU: Intermediation service that guarantees cohabitation. This is an intergenerational community platform for renting a room in a house to people from other generations.
  8. INSEKT LABEL BIOTECH: Incorporating insects into the agri-food value chain and co-leading the healthy and sustainable food revolution of the 21st century.
  9. FINANHUB: Fintech company, provider of customised solutions and digital developments that use Artificial Intelligence, algorithms and new technologies for the Wealth and Asset management industry.
  10. HIDRÓGENO EUSKADI-KOREA: event to bring closer relations and knowledge between Korea and the Basque Country in collaboration with local agents.

The event was opened by the Rector of Mondragon Unibertsitatea, Vicente Atxa, the Secretary General for Innovation, Teresa Riesgo, and the Mayor of Bilbao, Juan Mari Aburto, who were accompanied by numerous institutional representatives, including the President of the MONDRAGON Corporation, Iñigo Ucín.
