The Mondragon Team Academy entrepreneurship unit of the Business Faculty of Mondragon Unibertsitatea and Elkar-lan have signed a collaboration agreement to create new cooperative companies in the Basque Country. The signing ceremony was attended by Aitor Lizartza Martin, MTA's entrepreneurship coordinator, and Francisco Javier Sanz Santaolalla, from Elkar-Lan, S. Coop. This alliance, which will last for one year and will be renewable, also aims to promote the creation of cooperative employment and economic and social development, as well as the development of entrepreneurial teams through the incubation and acceleration of projects that will be launched from the Degree in Entrepreneurial Leadership and Innovation (LEINN) of Mondragon Unibertsitatea.

Training and advice

Mondragon Unibertsitatea and Elkar-Lan will work actively so that the students (entrepreneurs of the LEINN degree) constitute a solid cooperative business project. To this end, Elkar-Lan will offer cooperative training to third and fourth year LEINN students. Likewise, in order to start up their business initiative, they will be offered legal advice, especially on cooperative legislation; economic advice; aid; financial advice; and possible locations in which to establish themselves, such as industrial zones, business incubators, etc.

In addition, they will be assisted in the processing of applications for certifications, a customized model of bylaws will be prepared, and they will be guided to obtain the company's NIF, opening license and registration with the Social Security Treasury, etc.

Once the project that the students (LEINN team entrepreneurs) have set up has been constituted, Elkar-Lan will offer them an additional individual counseling service in order to maintain the continuity of the cooperative project.

This agreement is an important step within the collaboration that both organizations have been developing during the last years with the mission of promoting new cooperative enterprises and contributing to the social and economic development of the territory.
