The collection of charity clothing for Koopera will take place between 29 April and 6 May. The collection point is located in building 4, in the secretarial area of the Hall of Residence, where donations can be left during business hours. Any type of garment that can be reused is valid: T-shirts, shirts, trousers, shoes, boots, trainers, etc. of any size and for any season.

This initiative is the result of Fashion Revolution, a global movement that demands greater transparency, sustainability and ethics from the fashion industry. The movement wishes to lead a change in the fashion industry in order to radically change the way to obtain, produce, consume and automatically discard raw materials.

Koopera advocates a textile industry model of safe, clean and fair production, putting an end to the so-called fast fashion. In addition, it invites people to reconsider the following questions on the subject: Did you know that after the oil industry, the next most polluting is textiles? Or that 11,000 litres of water are needed to produce a single dress?

Biteri Hall of Residence and Global Shapers Bilbao

The Biteri Hall of Residence is a space for coexistence that offers students the opportunity to learn comprehensively, at both the academic and personal level. This is one of the initiatives currently being carried out. In the current academic year, the students have launched a large number of initiatives not only related to the field of solidarity, but also relating to sports, health, entrepreneurship, or sociocultural topics.

Global Shapers is an initiative of the World Economic Forum that unites young people aged 20-30 for the creation of projects with a social impact. The collection of clothes is the first initiative in which Global Shapers Bilbao and the Biteri Hall of Residence work together, and it seems that it is only the first step towards a collaborative relationship between these young people willing to change the world.
