The program currently has more than 130 apprentices from across the Basque Country enrolled in the training cycle offered at Mondragon Unibertsitatea.

After two years of intensive training, the 20 students of the first cohort of the training program developed jointly by Mondragon Goi Eskola Politeknikoa (MGEP) and Amazon, and promoted by the Basque Government's Vice-Ministry of Vocational Training to train employees within the company's 'Apprenticeship' program, received their diplomas today at an official ceremony at the Mondragon training center. This first cohort comprises individuals between the ages of 25 and 50, highlighting the inclusive and diverse nature of this initiative.
The collaboration between Amazon and Mondragon Goi Eskola Politeknikoa, which began in 2023, is embodied in the Advanced Technician Training in Industrial Mechatronics, delivered through a dual training model. This program combines intensive periods of theoretical training at Mondragon with professional internships at Amazon's logistics centers located in various Spanish provinces, including Madrid, Seville, Girona, Murcia, and Toledo. The objective is to prepare highly qualified technical talent in Industrial Mechatronics, a profile in high demand in the logistics sector.
Logistics Sector Needs
This program is delivered in a format exclusive to Amazon and addresses the company's specific needs regarding the qualifications of its employees. The proposal was developed in collaboration with the Basque Government's Vice-Ministry of Vocational Training, reflecting a shared commitment to adapting training to the real needs of the sector. In this context, Mondragon Goi Eskola Politeknikoa has once again demonstrated its ability to adapt to the needs of companies, adjusting the format of its higher-level vocational training cycle in Industrial Mechatronics to meet Amazon's specific requirements and prepare the technical talent the company needs in its operations centers.
While maintaining the program's academic content, the delivery method has been modified so that students can complete the theoretical training in Mondragon (Basque Country) and the practical component at Amazon's logistics centers located in various Spanish provinces.
This reorganization has been possible thanks to the work and commitment of the MGEP faculty and the tutors at Amazon's logistics centers, whose work has been fundamental in ensuring support, coordination, and the quality of the practical learning.
A growing program
Currently, the collaboration between MGEP and Amazon is experiencing rapid growth, with a total of 132 students enrolled in this program. As part of the program's ongoing evolution and improvement, new initiatives have been incorporated to strengthen students' international prospects.
One of these is specific preparation for the German Chamber of Commerce's accreditation exam, which will facilitate job mobility in Europe, especially in Germany, for those who wish to pursue their professional development outside of Spain.
