In Lekaroz on June 30, 2023, Mondragon University wrapped up the Expert Certification Course in Entrepreneurship and Audiovisual Innovation, awarding diplomas to the 11 students who completed it; the course was launched in January with the collaboration of the Government of Navarre. The event took place at the European Business Innovation Center (CEIN) in Navarre, on the Lekaroz Business Campus. This course was created with the aim of strengthening the audiovisual sector in the Navarrese community by promoting new business models.

The event began with a welcome by Amaia Pavon, coordinator of the program and teacher and researcher of the Faculty of Humanities and Education Sciences of Mondragon University, and Mondragon Team Academy teacher Alex Salaberria, also of Mondragon University. Next, the students presented their end-of-course projects, in which they responded to current challenges in audiovisual communication. These included Xabi Iriarte, who developed a proposal for a podcast in Basque; Garaxi Taberna, who analyzed the production plan and business model in the development of a film; Ali Urrusolo, with an innovative live cinema project in which the spectator becomes the protagonist of new fictions; David del Brio, who investigated new models of fiction formats through an innovative proposal; Unai Portilla, who used methodologies learned in the course to rethink the business model of the Aretxabaleta communication campus; and Oihane Agirre, who, along the same line as her colleague Unai, used the Pentagrowth methodology to formulate the future challenges of the audiovisual production of the Goiena Communication Group.

After the presentation of the projects, the diplomas were awarded and closing remarks were made by Amaia Pavon and Izaskun Goñi, acting General Director of Business Policy, International Operations and Work of the Government of Navarre.

Strengthening the sector

The certification arises from specific needs, including the need to provide the audiovisual sector with knowledge that is not currently offered in Navarre, with the aim of strengthening the business network of the audiovisual sector, given that different areas of Navarre, such as the Baztan Valley, are hosting filming of increasing importance. Although this certification is based on the needs of the audiovisual context of Navarre, the program is open to all those interested in launching projects or innovating in the audiovisual sector.
