On December 12, Mondragon University will host the sixth annual conference on interculturality and coexistence in education
This intercultural conference organized by the Faculty of Humanities and Education Sciences, now in its sixth year, will include lectures by experts and testimonies from teachers, families and students on interculturality, equity and coexistence. The conference, entitled ‘Everyday situations of racism: a shared challenge,’ will take place on December 12 on the Eskoriatza campus.
Registration: ‘Everyday situations of racism: a shared challenge’
The conference will be held on December 12 under the title ‘Everyday situations of racism: a shared challenge.’ In previous years, the conference has focused on the linguistic aspect of interculturality; this year, on the other hand, it will examine situations of racism that occur in schools.
The research group of the Faculty of Humanities and Education Sciences of Mondragon University explains the choice of topic as follows: “In schools, there are often situations of racism that go unnoticed by many people or that are seen as unimportant, but that have a profound effect on the lives of their victims. In what areas? In relationships between students, between teachers and students, between teachers and families, among the families themselves, in the materials, in the curriculum, in expectations, in the way conflicts are dealt with, etc. Are members of the educational community able to identify and respond to these situations? What do we have to learn and how do we learn it?”
The sixth annual conference
This year’s conference, which will be held on December 12, will be the Sixth Intercultural Conference hosted by the Faculty of Humanities and Education Sciences of Mondragon University.
