The 47-page booklet classifies and analyzes 164 books for children and young people.

The Children’s Book Seminar of the Faculty of Humanities and Education Sciences of Mondragon University has published its 2017 Guide to Children’s and Young People’s Literatureonline. In this 47-page booklet, 164 books for children and young people are analyzed and classified. The guide has been published every year since 1990.

A total of 14 people involved children’s and young people’s literature took part in the creation of this latest edition of the guide, including librarians, school teachers, and members of the Faculty. As stated in the Foreword, the 2017 guide “is the fruit of the sustained effort of the group, which must read many books. It should be of great assistance to parents, teachers, and librarians.” Regarding the evaluation process, they say, “From a general list, books are first classified as recommendable or highly recommendable. A review is included for each book in the latter category.”

The members of the Children’s Book Seminar of the Faculty of Humanities and Education Sciences of Mondragon University began publishing the literary guide in 1990 (online, in 2001). Members of the Faculty work in collaboration with representatives from the Debagoiena municipal library and teachers from the valley schools. Additionally, in 2014, a special edition of the guide was published in celebration of the 15^th anniversary of the seminar.
