Inauguration Bilbao AS Fabrik

Mondragon University, together with Bilbao City Council, has inaugurated Bilbao AS Fabrik.



The Mayor of Bilbao, Juan Mari Aburto, and the Rector of Mondragon University, Vicente Atxa, today presided over the inauguration of Bilbao AS Fabrik.

This project, led by Bilbao City Council and supported by a network of strategic partners and European funding, aims to improve the competitiveness of Bilbao-based companies and to consolidate Zorrotzaurre as an innovative ecosystem and a benchmark in the field of advanced services for industry 4.0 and the digital economy, combining university training and a community of people spearheading innovative business initiatives.

In his speech, the Rector of Mondragon University said that "Bilbao AS Fabrik is a strategic project for Mondragon University. In collaboration with Bilbao City Council, it will develop an environment where StartUps and advanced service companies coexist with university activities in line with our model, closely interwoven with our business fabric". In the short term, he said, "Our aim is to have a space training 800 students in fields relating to business management, industry 4.0, robotics, big data, digitalisation and its impact on the humanities and education, etc."

"Courses including a Dual Bachelor's Degree in Mecatronic Engineering, Dual Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration and Management, Bachelor's Degree in Business Data Analytics and a Bachelor's Degree in Global Digital Humanities are already being taught", added Vicente Atxa, Rector of Mondragon University.
