The poster for the 2024 Huhezinema Basque Short Film Festival has been presented
The work of Ariadna Tola, who is a member of the student organizing group, has been chosen to advertise the 17th annual festival.
The Faculty of Humanities and Education Sciences of Mondragon University has presented the new poster for the 17th Annual Huhezinema Basque Short Film Festival. The Aretxabaleta church and telephone booth are especially prominent in the imagery on the poster created by classmate Ariadna Tola.
The communication team in charge of images said that it was not easy to choose the poster. Ariadna Tola, the creator of the poster, explained that “a friend from Aretxabaleta recommended that I include the image of a telephone booth on the poster since the phone booth has caused a lot of controversy among the young people of the town. Considering that Huhezinema is an event aimed at young people, and that it’s a film festival that’s held in Aretxabaleta, I thought it was the most appropriate way to make that connection.”
The new HAZI Award
This year’s festival will have several new features, among which the most notable in terms of prizes is the new HAZI Award. The public company HAZI of the Basque Government’s Department of Economic Development, Sustainability and the Environment and Huhezinema have joined forces to promote this new award.
The aim of this new partnership is to promote and publicize activities related to HAZI (entrepreneurship, rural development, forestry, etc.) every year. This being the case, the HAZI Award will go to the short film that best addresses these issues.
The best film will be selected from among the Huhezinema short film and music video finalists and the prize will be awarded by the official jury of Huhezinema and a representative appointed by HAZI. The award winner will receive 600 euros together with a basket of Eusko Label products at the Huhezinema award ceremony on January 26. A HAZI representative will present the award at the Arkupe Culture Center in Aretxabaleta.
Registration to close soon
Registration to participate in the 17th annual Huhezinema festival will close on November 27. The rules and conditions for participation as well as film submission deadlines and methods can be found on the Huhezinema website. To submit short films or music videos, registration must be completed using this form.
