On January 26, the awards ceremony of the Huhezinema Basque Short Film Festival was held. The event took place in Zaraia Hall in Aretxabaleta. After the screening of the finalists, the awards ceremony began at 7:00 p.m., hosted by actor Kepa Errasti. The event was attended by representatives of the Faculty of Humanities and Education Sciences of Mondragon University, the City Council of Aretxabaleta, Ogeita4, Ausolan, Mundukide, CENTA, Goiena and HAZI, among others.

Huhezinema 2024: winners

OFFICIAL SECTION

  • Huhezinema Award (€800): Ximinoa by Itziar Leemans: because it masterfully immerses us in the universe of a bourgeois family from the North and its nanny, depicting the violence of class relations.
  • Best Performance (€150): Enekor Sagardoy and Zorion Eguilor, for embodying the balance and imbalances between two generations.
  • HAZI Award (€600): Agur Artzai by Julen Zubieta, for creating a special portrait of a shepherd on the verge of disappearing and for the director’s tribute to him through the film.
  • Audience Award (€100): Deadly Draw - Nitya Lopez.
  • Ausart Award (€350): Hygiene standards - Amaia San Sebastián.

MUSIC VIDEOS

  • Best Music Video (€300): Bele-zerua irabazi by Nytya López, for her work as an actress and for the choreography and planning of the music video.
  • Audience Award (€100): Esperoan-Erromintxelak - Nitya Lopez.
  • Special Mention: Munlet-Astindu, for its skill and freshness in mixing iconography and Basque audiovisual elements.

STUDENT SECTION

  • Best Student Video (€300): Noiz Basoa - Mikele Landa, for a brave essay-film proposal that goes beyond the labels of fiction or documentary.
  • Mundukide Award (€700): Kosmospolita - Unax Alcubilla, for the original combination of educational results and social mobilizations.
  • MU Award (€150): Beste aldea - Irati Alvarez, Itziar Juaristi and Lorea Elorriaga, for narrating a well-known local historical event from another perspective, and for making effective use of audiovisual language.
  • Audience Award (€100): Bakarr¿k - Oier Markotegi.
