The awards ceremony of the short film festival organized by Mondragon University students in Audiovisual Communication was held in the Arkupe Room in Aretxabaleta.

The awards ceremony gala of the Huhezinema Basque Short Film Festival was held on January 27. The program began at 2:30 in the afternoon with screenings from the Official Section divided into two sessions with a break. The Zaraia Room in Aretxabaleta became the meeting place for Basque film creators.

The moment everyone was waiting for came at seven o’clock in the evening: the awards ceremony. In the screening room, there was an atmosphere of excitement, nervousness and curiosity among the participants. The leading man of the music video section NNN ZZZ (Nor Naiz Ni, Zein Zara Zu; Who Am I, Who Are You), Flavio Bánterla, was present at the event. The event also enjoyed the presence of representatives from the Faculty of Humanities and Education Sciences of Mondragon University, the Town Council of Aretxabaleta, the Danobat Group, Mundukide, Goiena, Berria and the Arteman agency.

  • HUHEZINEMA 2023 AWARD (€800), supplemented by BERRIA, to Maider Oleaga for her work Irrits (prize awarded by Official Jury member Kepa Errasti).
  • VERTIGO AWARD (€400) - Siempre lunes, - David González (presented by Mondragon University Audiovisual Communication students Lara Garcia, Julen Iglesias and Olatz Asua).
  • SENIOR JURY AWARD (€300) - Cuerdas - Estibaliz Urresola Solaguren (presented by Rosa Urreta from Goienagusi).
  • AUDIENCE AWARD (prize valued at €100) - For 36 by Ana Lambarri Tellaeche (presented by Aretxabaleta City Councilor of Culture Ainhoa Cabero).

MUSIC VIDEOS

  • BEST MUSIC VIDEO (€300) - Coyote eta Chico Tornado Vs Don Cóndor y Ñora Alacran – Nitya Lopez (awarded by Official Jury member Andoni Imaz).
  • BEST MUSIC VIDEO IN BASQUE (€200) - Nor Naiz Ni, Zein Zara Zu (Flavio Bánterla) – Aitor Arruti (presented by Goio Arana, Director of Mondragon University’s Aretxabaleta Campus).
  • AUDIENCE AWARD (prize valued at €100) - Coko (OLD G) - Iñaki Tena and Claudia Molina (presented by Danobat Group representative Iñaki Herrera)

STUDENT SECTION

  • BEST STUDENT WORK, supplemented by Gaztezulo (€300) - Estampado - Gerardo Tomé (Basque Country Film School – Bilbao) (presented by Nagore Ipiña, Dean of the Faculty of Humanities and Education Sciences).
  • MU AWARD (€150) - Mitxoleta: Javier Elizalde (presented by Nagore Ipiña, Dean of the Faculty of Humanities and Education Sciences).
  • MUNDUKIDE AWARD (€700) - Beñat Goia and Iraia Irazusta, presented by Mundukide representative Urri Urizar.
  • AUDIENCE AWARD (prize valued at €100) - Muskil, by Marina Perosanz (presented by Ausolan representative Juan Mari Bergaretxe).

A meal was provided by Ausolan for the finishing touch. Attendees enjoyed an informal film forum while eating their appetizers. To wrap up the festival, Elektropottotte Elektrotxaranga livened up the rainy evening in the Aretxabaleta town square and the event was officially closed by DJ Cochinita Pibil.
