On January 21, Faculty of Humanities and Education Sciences instructors and researchers Larraitz Esnaola and Alexander Barandiaran presented their book, Esperimentazioan sakonduz biziberritu (Enliven by Examining Experimentation), in an event that took place at the Library on the Eskoriatza campus.

The book, which was published by HikHasi, analyzes the benefits of education as well as the opportunity to experiment with diverse materials during the development process. The authors also include different ideas, strategies and proposals for that experimentation, documenting each step by step and in a very practical way.

According to Larraitz Esnaola and Alexander Barandiaran, new questions arise when we place the child at the center of education, set manuals aside, and start to work on new proposals: on what basis do we propose a given space, or one material or another within that space? What contribution does each material make to the child’s development or to one development framework or another?

The Mondragon University researchers believe that spaces and materials open doors for the child to experiment, examine, explore, create and play. They wrote the book for the instructor who accompanies the child in this process, with the intention of helping him or her reflect and open new avenues. The book is very practical and easy to use.

The book has a large number of photographs and is 161 pages long, with different sections, such as Examining experimentation, Ties with the curriculum, Materials for experimentation, Characteristics and possibilities of the materials, How to create proposals for experimentation, etc. The book also contains 365 specific proposals for experimentation.
