The Electric Energy research group of the Higher Polytechnic School has managed to join the ECPE (European Centre for Power Electronics) as a centre of technological competence thanks to the work carried out in recent years in three specific areas:

  • Electronic power systems applied to electrical energy control.
  • Drives applied to traction and generation
  • Energy storage.

The inclusion of the Electricity research group in the ECPE as a centre of technological competence was thanks to the projects carried out alongside the ECPE industrial partners, as entry into the ECPE is only possible through letters of recommendation from such Industrial partners.

This recent recognition of the research group is added to another recognition previously received from the Basque Government, who awarded the Electricity research group the category A in research excellence, the highest recognition granted by the Basque public body.

The field of electricity has become a strategic market in modern industry, and the Higher Polytechnic School has aligned itself with this new reality. In this sense, the research group’s scientific production for 2018 derived in 18 articles published in the Journal Citation Report (JCR), the quality indicator best valued by international research organisations.
