The following representatives took part in the event: Basque Government Deputy Minister of Language Policy Aitor Aldasoro, Aretxabaleta mayor Garikoitz Iturbe, director of Arteman Komunikazioko Arantzazu Lagunilla, advisor to the Bai Euskarari Association Maddi Iregi, Arizmendi School Director of Communication Naiara Okina, and Xabi Igoa, Director of Communication of the Faculty of Humanities and Education Sciences.
The Euspot Basque ad competition was launched in 2011 to encourage the creation of ads in the Basque language. It is a pioneer in the Basque Country in combining the Basque language, creativity and the field of advertising, and has become a touchstone in cultivating advertising in Basque. In this 14th year of the competition, the question to be answered in each ad is “What does it mean to be a friend?”. For Euspot 2025, the main sponsor will be the Department of Culture and Language Policy of the Basque Government.

A fruitful competition, with 900 ads
Euspot is a well-established competition to which some 900 ads have been submitted over the years. There is no doubt that the influence of audiovisuals in today’s society is enormous and that, as a result, the audiovisual format is one of great interest, especially among young people. However, Euspot is not only a competition for young people, and people with many different profiles, origins and interests have participated. And we must not forget that imagination and creativity are the main ingredients of Euspot. Thus, the competition is open and anyone can participate. There are prizes for all ages and levels and, this year as every year, it is hoped that the competition will attract interest throughout the Basque Country and again break all records.
This year’s theme: “What does it mean to be a friend?”
Participants in this 14th Euspot competition will have to make a 30-second ad on the topic of relationships among friends. The political agenda also addresses the need to promote healthy relationships among young people today, taking into account the threats posed by networks, attitudes toward communication and relationships made possible by technology, direct and inclusive relationships, relationships created in response to diversity, etc.

Training in audiovisual advertising
This year, the organization will again offer training in audiovisual advertising in schools in the Basque Country to strengthen the talent pool of ad makers. The aims of the training sessions will be to promote the creativity and advertising instincts of young people and to encourage them to participate in the competition. In past years, more than 5,000 students have taken part in these Euspot training sessions at different schools.
