A very fruitful path: 750 ads from all over the Basque Country

Euspot is a well-known competition and over the years of its existence nearly 750 ads have been received. Participation in last year’s event was historic: a total of 149 ads were received. There is no doubt that nowadays the suffusion of the audiovisual is enormous in all areas and that, consequently, the audiovisual format sparks enormous interest, especially among young people. However, Euspot is not a competition aimed exclusively at young people; people of many different ages and profiles have participated over the years. It is worth remembering that imagination and creativity are the main ingredients of Euspot. Therefore, the contest is open to everyone and there are prizes for all ages and levels. Once again, it is expected that the competition will include participants from all over the Basque Country, again breaking all records.

This year’s theme: Mobile phones and minors

This year, participants will have to create a 30-second ad that presents both the opportunities that mobile phones offer to minors and the dangers. There is considerable debate in society about this issue. There are many groups that want to place limits or prohibitions on the use of mobile phones and many that are very critical of the use of mobile phones by minors. There are specific projects that have been launched in different localities, campaigns promoted by different parents’ associations, professionals who say that the inappropriate use of mobile phones can cause serious problems...

The aim is to create a 30-second ad to raise awareness in society and to have an impact, especially on parents. We are looking for creative and original ads that answer the following question: “Your 12-year-old child has asked you and their other parent for a mobile phone. What do you do?” The ads should present both the opportunities that mobile phones offer to minors as well as the dangers. They should be aimed at society as a whole, but especially at parents and educators of minors.
