The Faculty of Humanities and Education Sciences of Mondragon University will offer two new micro-credentials in the 2025-2026 academic year to work on the transmission of Basque culture in education: Basque cultural literacy in education and Strategies for the promotion of Basque culture in education.
Basque cultural literacy in education
With this course, participants will take steps toward literacy in different types of cultural expression. They will interpret cultural expressions as teachers and identify aspects to be taken into account for literacy in culture. To address the Basque culture in education, work will be done on paradigms, theories, and the revision and repositioning of cultural perspectives taking into account the mindsets of minoritized cultures. In addition to increasing literacy in culture, this training will also reflect on paradigms to influence the revitalization of Basque culture.
Strategies for the promotion of Basque culture in education
The aim of this course is to offer strategies to Basque cultural agents to transmit, help socialize, address and share the cultural offerings of the different branches of Basque culture. In addition, the course will delve into the design of cultural projects in the classroom or education center.
Hybrid format
Both micro-credentials will be offered in the hybrid format: there will be five in-person class meetings and four synchronous sessions, combined with online studies. These two courses are cumulative; that is, the first course (Strategies for the promotion of Basque culture in education) is a prerequisite for the second (Basque cultural literacy in education). It is also possible to meet the prerequisite for the second micro-credential by having earned the Master’s degree in Dynamization of Basque Culture. However, interested parties should bear in mind that by completing the two micro-credentials, they will automatically earn the Expert Diploma in Agent of Basque Culture in Education soon to be launched.
Funding for the courses
The courses are subsidized up to 100% through Fundae. In addition, as part of the Open Academy program, Santander will offer four scholarships to take micro-credentials courses at Mondragon University. Those interested in applying for a scholarship should contact the scholarship program here by October 28, 2025.
