A total of 200 students from the four faculties of Mondragon University gathered at the conference which the university has organised for several years to promote entrepreneurship among its students, Ekiten Encounter. This year the university has undertaken the XI edition in which the students of the Higher Polytechnic School, the Business Administration Faculty, the Faculty of Gastronomic Sciences and of Humanities and Education Sciences have come together to work on entrepreneurship and design in multi-disciplinary groups on an innovative idea for which they subsequently developed a business model.

The conference began with talks by different entrepreneur speakers who transmitted their own experience in this field. Satur Insausti (R+D+i Department in Goizper) together with Damian Hryniewicz, Amaia and Asier Galdos (Magnet, S.Coop.- Start up technology) recounted how two companies with a customer supplier relation join to work together on one sole project. Eriz Delgado spoke about social empowerment and presented his business model in the Bank for Social Inclusion Txokobide to the students, taking the Business Model Canvas as a base. And finally, Iker Merchan, founding member of Salve Bilbao, spoke about the importance of marketing and communication in positioning a good product. Following the talks, students worked on their business model in teams. In short, join up and be an entrepreneur, from a multi-disciplinary aspect.

Kick off:

The event today represents the kick off of the Ekiten contest which the university organises each year to select the best ideas in different fields. In fact, starting from today registration is open for students to participate in the annual entrepreneurship event, which this year will publish the projects awarded in three categories on 15 June and the winning teams will receive their awards on 22 June.

The event is supported by Gaztenpresa in the section for new business ideas; Landaola, as sponsor of the ideas and projects for the development of rural environments; and Kimu Berri in the section for projects and services to facilitate people’s lives.
