From MIK, we have developed together with Gaia and Bizkaia Talent a digital self-diagnosis solution that allows organizations to identify their strengths and areas for improvement in this area within the framework of the initiative Bizkaia with the Talent (BwT) as part of the territorial strategy to attract and retain STEM talent in Bizkaia.

In order to manage talent effectively, it is necessary to know the level of maturity of an organization. Having accurate information on strengths and areas for improvement allows decisions to be made in line with the business strategy. With this objective in mind, the “Bizkaia with the talent” initiative, promoted and financed by the Provincial Council of Bizkaia, hosts an online self-diagnosis tool that allows companies to assess their level of development in people and talent management.

The development of this tool is the result of a year of work by a team formed by the Business Faculty Research Center (MIK) of Mondragon Unibertsitatea, the GAIA cluster and Bizkaia Talent.

The project, which combines business maturity models and informative methodologies in people management, has resulted in a new analysis model that measures and assesses the state of maturity of an organization in talent management. Through a design based on data analytics and its exploitation, the digital tool provides each organization with a customized report with a detailed diagnosis, as well as specific recommendations and steps to follow to strengthen its people and talent management strategy.

The power of the 4Ps

To structure this analysis, the self-diagnostic tool analyzes and assesses the state of the company in four dimensions, known as 'the power of the 4Ps'.

The first is Place & context, in which the level of maturity is evaluated according to the characteristics of the company, such as its size or geographical scope. The second, Purpose & Strategy, analyzes the strategic elements that impact talent management, such as organizational culture, leadership and technological progress.

The third, People, examines the distribution of responsibilities in people management, both inside and outside the organization. Finally, the tool analyzes the Practices dimension, which assesses the degree of development of people management practices.

This tool is the first step towards a comprehensive people management strategy based on data and aligned with the needs of each organization.
