International Day of Women and Girls in Science
Today, 11 February, is the International Day of Women and Young Girls in Science. For this reason, we wanted to gather the testimonies of three leading figures from Mondragon Unibertsitaea: Irantzu Calvo Santamaria (Faculty of Business Studies), Ione Uriarte Iñurrategi (Faculty of Humanities and Education Sciences) and Nekane Errasti Lozares (Engineering Faculty).
All three agree on one clear message: ‘If women do not participate, we lose part of reality..
In this regard, initiatives such as FIRST LEGO League are essential. It is not merely a competition, but a bridge to overcome the ‘emotional barriers’ that still affect many girls and to dispel fears about technology.
Mondragon Unibertsitatea would like to publicly express its gratitude to the co-organisers, Innobasque and MONDRAGON Corporation, and the collaborating companies and institutions, Arrasate Town Council, Ausolan, Batz, Cicautxo, Danobat Group, Erreka, Fagor, Ikerlan, Laboral Kutxa, Lana, LKS, Lortek, Maier, Ondoan, Orbik, Ulma, the Provincial Council of Álava, the Provincial Council of Bizkaia, the Provincial Council of Gipuzkoa, the Department of Education and the Department of Science, Research and Innovation for making it possible for this edition to be held at the First Lego League venues in Arrasate and Bilbao.
