Abstract

Due to the importance of sensors in railway traction units, early fault diagnosis methods have been implemented for sensors. Thus, railway traction units could be avoided, improving the availability of the traction unit. Due to limitations in train to remote center communication, onboard diagnosis solutions are more suitable for early fault detection. On the other hand, diagnosis is an essential functionality for the implementation of a Condition-based Maintenance, which allows the adjustment or replacement of the sensor depending on its health assessment, optimizing the system availability and maintenance costs.
