Students of the Biomedical Engineering Degree at Mondragon Unibertsitatea recently attended a master class on biomechanics led by Jon Iriberri, biomechanist for Team Visma Lease a bike.

Jon Iriberri focused his presentation on the mechanical power a person is capable of generating when cycling, relating it to muscle function and posture on the bike. The students saw the benefits that biomechanics generates in sports performance and injury rehabilitation.

A biomechanist at Custom4., he is a leading expert in aspects of sports biomechanics, particularly in the field of cycling biomechanics. He has been a biomechanist for the Movistar team and Trek Academy, and currently works with the Visma Lease a Bike cycling team. Team Visma | Lease a Bike is currently one of the best professional cycling teams in the world, operating at the highest level (World Tour).

Bachelor's Degree in Biomedical Engineering

Students of the Bachelor's Degree in Biomedical Engineering t Mondragon Unibertsitatea are trained to work in the medical field through engineering. The development of new treatments and technological innovation in medical equipment are fundamental keys to the evolution of the healthcare system, and students studying this degree are focused on this.

During the degree, students cover a wide variety of topics, including mathematics, physics, electronics, programming, biology, anatomy, biomaterials, medical instruments, manufacturing technologies, and medicine, among others. This training program allows students to approach their professional careers from various perspectives: developing technological equipment for hospitals, analyzing human genome data to develop new drugs, creating and implementing software and algorithms for bioinformatics applications, and more.

The Bachelor's Degree in Biomedical Engineering is taught on the Arrasate campus and has 40 places. The university also offers a Master's Degree in Biomedical Technologies.
