The year 2024 is shaping up to be a transcendental stage in which society will experience significant transformations, driven by individuals with outstanding experience and innovative capacity, being guides for a multitude of citizens immersed in the creation and transfer of knowledge.

The prestigious Forbes magazine has selected 24 professionals whose work stands out for transforming reality and leading society towards a brighter future. These leaders, both women and men, have reached the elite of disruption, thanks to their talent, leadership skills and pioneering contributions to business.

LEINNers featured change agents according to Forbes

Within this select group, five entrepreneurs from Mondragon Unibertsitatea's Degree in Entrepreneurial Leadership and Innovation (LEINN) have been recognized by Forbes as outstanding change agents. Three of them are women.

Three of the LEINNers come from the Oñati lab of Mondragon Team Academy, the international entrepreneurship unit of the Business School of Mondragon Unibertsitatea, and two from the Barcelona lab, led by Teamlabs. Mondragon Team Academy, an international community of more than 2500 team entrepreneurs, contributes to the creation of a global network of social innovation ecosystem labs.

ANE FERNÁNDEZ DE ARBINA (Vitoria)

Ane Fernández de Arbina, CEO of Test4Safe, graduated in Entrepreneurial Leadership and Innovation (LEINN), after her time at the project accelerator Metxa and the startup YouKast, decided to found Test4Safe. The company has developed, in collaboration with the UPV, a test strip that detects submissive drugs in drinks, with the main objective of preventing assaults.

Fernández de Arbina emphasizes the importance of addressing both the accompaniment of possible victims and the need to educate and raise awareness among potential aggressors about limits and mutual respect. Her proactive approach seeks to promote a strong cultural change, with the clear message that actions of chemical submission are unacceptable and carry serious consequences.

MARTA MANEJA (Barcelona) AND HERNÁN HERNÁNDEZ (Jaca)

Marta and Hernán are the founders of GLOOP, an edible cutlery brand that aims to eradicate single-use plastic. They offer edible spoons, coffee stirrers and straws that, after use, can be consumed as if they were a cookie. Their proposal, 100% biodegradable, improves the consumer experience and complies with current legislation.

IÑIGO MONREAL (Vitoria) AND MARÍA JARA (Escoriaza)

Iñigo and María are founders of SMALLOPS, an initiative that seeks innovative solutions to address climate change through nanotechnology. Their approach includes the generation of biofuel and OPS (iron nanoparticles encapsulated in carbon) from waste that is difficult to manage, managing to increase biogas production by 20% and eliminating up to 99% of hydrogen sulfide gas.

The production of carbon-encapsulated zero-valent iron nanoparticles from olive residues using hydrothermal carbonization (HTC) techniques is a key Smallops innovation. Its low-cost production method allows the use of these nanoparticles in various activities, such as water treatment, biogas production and their use as fertilizers.

 

In summary, these five LEINNers stand out on the Forbes list as visionary leaders who, through their projects and initiatives, are contributing significantly to the transformation and progress of today's society.
