The leadership program based on relational competencies reaches its XX edition in 2025
Mondragon Unibertsitatea commemorates in 2025 twenty years of commitment to the development of competencies for transformational leadership, a milestone that marks the consolidation of a pioneering approach in the training of leaders and teams, in all types of organizations.
The origin of this program dates back to the beginning of the year 2000 through an initiative of the Mondragon Group, promoted from the area of social management of the Corporate Center, at that time, Julio Canton, led the concern to provide humanistic skills to managers of the cooperative group, began to explore different proposals that already existed, connecting with the proposal of Rafael Echeverria, providing conversational skills to leaders working from an ontological vision.
In its beginnings, the program focused on the training of managers of the Mondragon Group, under the guidance of Rafael Echeverria, thus contributing to a more human and collaborative style of leadership.
A consolidated and constantly evolving program
After these first years of experimentation and learning, Mondragon Unibertsitatea undertook the commitment to develop and consolidate its own program to extend these competencies to a larger number of people and organizations. Thus, in 2005, the university launched its own program specialized in leadership and teamwork competencies, based on conversational competencies, to which new approaches and emerging theories have been added over time.
Since its first edition, around 20 people have participated each year, and in 2025 the program, which begins in mid-February, will celebrate its 20th edition. The program is open to all people and organizations, from cooperatives, social economy and other types of organizations, even multinationals, for those who dream of a more humane and transformative leadership, capable of creating better working and coexistence environments, and that allow personal and professional development.
From the hand of this program comes the master's degree in coaching that this year is presented in its XIII edition.
New initiatives for organizational transformation
In recent years Mondragon Unibertsitatea has researched and worked to complete and expand its training offer with programs aimed at organizational transformation. This academic year 24/25 has launched the first university program for agents of change and cultural transformation under the theal paradigm. A program that provides competencies and skills to work with cultural and organizational aspects, which complements the previous ones. It aims to contribute to create self-managed environments where people's well-being and fulfillment are fundamental principles connected and guided by an evolutionary purpose. In this way, it expands creativity and collective responsiveness to the challenges that any organization must face.
An alumni learning community to continue learning and contributing to society
As part of this evolution, the alumni community has recently been created, a meeting place for all those who have participated in any of the aforementioned programs of Mondragon Unibertsitatea.
This community has a dual purpose: to continue learning together, sharing experiences and knowledge among professionals with similar interests, and to develop a social and solidarity vocation, offering society especially to groups that, for various reasons, cannot access this type of training and professional advice.
With these initiatives, Mondragon Unibertsitatea reaffirms its commitment to the training of transformational leaders and the promotion of an organizational culture based on trust, collaboration and human development, thus contributing to the construction of a more equitable and sustainable world.
