Espacio Europeo de Educación Superior

Guarantee of compatibility and coherence in European higher education

The European Higher Education Area (EHEA) was meant to ensure more comparable, compatible and coherent systems of higher education in Europe. The Sorbonne Declaration in 1998 and the Bologna Declaration in 1999 shared the view that the segmentation of the European higher education sector in Europe was outdated and a voluntary process to create the European Higher Education Area (EHEA) was formalized.

Mondragon University was the 1st university in the Basque Country and among the first in Spain to adapt to the EHEA in 2008. This milestone was achieved after our university established the MENDEBERRI project in 2001 whose objective was to develop values and attitudes in the students that allow them to successfully integrate in the professional world and become active subjects in the progressive transformation of society.
